Initially, training is being delivered online with face to face training to start when isolation restrictions are lifted. Batch 1 started from May 3rd May, undertaking essential soft skills, workplace diversity and safety courses. Batch 2 started on May 17th with English and soft skills to be followed by safety skills course work. All batches are scheduled to complete three months of training centre course work followed by a nine-month program of on the job training. OGM Technical Institute Pty Ltd in partnership with Integrated Training Centre (ITC) successfully delivered the International Train the Trainer course at the ITC premises in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The intensive 7 days course was attended by 18 participants, from our partners in Saudi Arabia which included ITC and THIEP and also NSH/OGM trainers. The key outcomes from the training course has been Participants provided with vocational training methodologies, including adult learning principles to further develop their capacity to train learners in their industry of expertise Participants’ skills and knowledge improved to better teach, assess in VET and can now deliver high quality training vocational skills courses Additionally, the course covered “Presenting with Impact’, which has provided them with the opportunity to become power presenters. OGM in partnership with IL&FS Skills have successfully trained and placed their second batch of welding graduates into jobs with Nasser S Al Hajri (NSH) in Saudi Arabia. The felicitation ceremony at NSDC office was attended by Mr Manish Kumar (MD & CEO, NSDC) , Mr Sushim Banerjee (CEO Indian Iron & Steel Sector Skill Council) , Mr RCM Reddy (MD & CEO, IL&FS Skills) , Mr Ketul Archarya , Mr Vivek Pandit, many other key personnels from NSDC, IL&FS and OGM Team along with the successful trainees on 6th of March 2017. The 6 months intensive training program constituted of 3 months of Institute training at IIS Ropar, 3 months of “On the job” training organised by OGM with Leighton India, Indian Sector Skill Council testing and finally Saudi employer testing. The first batch of OGM IL&FS welding students were recently awarded KANGAN level 1 certificates in Engineering (Welding) by the Honourable Minister of Skills and Entrepreneurship, Sri Rajiv Pratap Rudi. The Minister endorsed the OGM strategy to deliver Australian vocational skills courses in India providing technical and on the job training with Leighton India through to job placements internationally. The Minister encouraged the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) to replicate the strategy increasing the range of courses and participation of trainees. OGM IL&FS Welding graduates landed in Kuwait to start a new exciting chapter in their careers. The welding graduates who were recently awarded certificates from Hon. Minister of Skills and Entrepreneurship, Shri Pratap Rudi, and placed into jobs in Kuwait by OGM on successful completion of the course in India. OGM was again the major sponsor of the 5th Indian Nationals of the Australian Rules Football played in Kolkata on 16th and 17th January. AFL legend, Kevin Sheedy together with Bendigo Umpires Association officials took the Indian players through umpiring workshops and skills development sessions for the widely popular Australian sport. The event was also attended by representatives from the AFL, Essendon Football Club, AFL Multicultural Club, ABC, GWS Giants, Official Golden Square Football, Netball Club and OGM officials. 200+ players representing seven India States travelled to compete for the OGM Cup national championship. Many of the players come from underprivileged backgrounds and through this Championship get an opportunity to learn and develop a new skill. The experience is truly enriching for the young boys.
